Celebrating Skills for America’s Future was a look back on five years of achievements in demonstrating how businesses can successfully partner with community colleges to meet their workforce needs and help working people connect to economic opportunities.

In 2011, the Aspen Institute’s Skills for America’s Future was founded to provide a platform that would illustrate the power of collaboration among employers, community colleges, and other workforce partners to address skills mismatch affecting businesses and workers. Five years later, these partnerships – in practice and in policy – have matured and deepened. Skills for America’s Future has helped change the conversation so that the business and education communities can focus on replicable and scalable solutions.

As we plan for the next generation of this program, we took a look back on five years of achievements in demonstrating how businesses can successfully partner with community colleges to meet their workforce needs and help working people connect to economic opportunities. This event included several moderated panel discussions to take stock of job-driven workforce developments and showcase future trends in workforce development.
