Aspen is a place for leaders to lift their sights above the possessions which possess them. To confront their own nature as human beings, to regain control over their own humanity by becoming more self-aware, more self-correcting, and hence more self-fulfilling.
Matt Stubbs has been with the Job Opportunities Task Force (JOTF) since 2012 as the program manager of their pre-apprenticeship construction training program, Project JumpStart. Project JumpStart aims to provide training, supportive services, and job placement assistance to unemployed and under-employed Marylanders. Matt has helped the program expand from three classes to six with the addition of a second JumpStart training site in Baltimore City. He has also managed the expansion from Baltimore to Prince George’s County, Maryland. The program now serves approximately 125 residents a year. Matt has also helped increase supportive services for trainees and graduates through the addition of a Financial Case Manager and the implementation of a graduate-led mentoring program for young adults enrolled in the program.
The Workforce Leadership Academies are part of the Economic Opportunity Fellows Network, a network of leadership and fellowship programs run by the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program.
