Takayuki Hashimoto was born in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture in 1954 and has a BS degree in Applied Physics from Nagoya University.
He joined IBM Japan as a sales representative in 1978. He worked across a number of roles, including as assignee in Corporate Headquarters in NY, executive assistant to IBM Asia Pacific President, AS/400 brand manager, before becoming the VP of General Business in 1998. In 2000, he became a member of the Board. Then he served as VP of Personal Computers and Systems, GM of Global Technology Services and GM of Sales. He was elected President in 2009 and became the Chairman in 2012. In 2017, he assumed his current role as the Honorary Executive Advisor.
Mr. Hashimoto became Deputy President of the Aspen Institute Japan in 2023, before being elected as President in 2025. He is also the Outside Director of Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc, and Independence Non-Executive of Deloitte Tohmatsu LLC and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LLC.
Additionally, Mr. Hashimoto is Auditor of Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives) and Advisor of the Japan Business Federation “Keidanren”, and is the President and CEO of Yamashiro Management R&D Institute LTD. He holds roles at academic and non-profit organizations, Japan Corporate Governance Network and is a member of the Management Committee for Tokai National Higher Education and Research System. He is also Representative of Academic Community Club “Gakushikai”.
