Aspen is a place for leaders to lift their sights above the possessions which possess them. To confront their own nature as human beings, to regain control over their own humanity by becoming more self-aware, more self-correcting, and hence more self-fulfilling.
Financial stability means having enough resources to comfortably afford everyday life, build savings, and withstand financial shocks. To help households reach this level of stability, Aspen FSP convenes cross-sector leaders to develop tools, elevate insights, and spur policy and market innovation. Together, we aim to close benefit gaps, enhance state capacity, and build integrated, responsive, and modernized systems of public and workplace benefits.
What We Do
Our work concentrates on improving benefits delivery and supporting state leadership.
Modernizing Public Benefits
$140 billion in government benefits go unclaimed each year. Aspen FSP examines the frictions and challenges facing U.S. public benefits systems, as well as solutions that help all eligible people receive the support they need.
We convene and connect benefits administrators from 29 states through the Aspen Institute State Benefits Leadership Cohort, promoting peer learning and highlighting operational solutions that improve benefits delivery systems.
The Aspen Institute State Benefits Leadership Cohort
The Aspen Institute State Benefits Leadership Cohort is a solution-oriented community of practice and peer network of state executives responsible for administering public benefits and committed to modernizing benefits delivery. Cohort members meet virtually and in person to share values-based leadership practices and to workshop emerging innovative delivery practices.
